6 Channel LED Driver with I2C Interface for EPD Panel Front-light Application
The FP9961 is a high-efficiency LED driver for white and amber LEDs, primarily for EPD front-lighting that uses LED light-bar strings. It integrates dual current-mode boost converters with built-in power MOSFETs; each converter can drive up to three current-sink controllers.
FP9961 features dynamic output voltage control function, which automatically chooses the lowest active LED sense voltage to regulate the feedback voltage of step-up converter. Through the function, the FP9961 is able to dynamically adjust output voltage of step-up converter to optimize the system power efficiency.
FP9961 provides six constant-current sink channels with ±3% current accuracy. LED current can be adjusted via the I2C interface, giving users flexible control over LED intensity. In addition, the device supports linear, exponential, and mixed-mode dimming for precise brightness control.
FP9961 offers several programmable protection features to guard the converter against fault conditions. For open-load events, the device provides adjustable overvoltage protection (OVP). An adjustable cycle-by-cycle current limit enhances reliability and maintains consistent operation across load and line variations. In addition, thermal protection prevents operation when any combination of overload or ambient temperature could cause the junction temperature to exceed its threshold.
The FP9961 is available in low-profile and space saving thermal enhanced WLCSP package.
